If you are among the very few Christians independently searching in the whole Word of God for His mind on each subject, you are doing what He said. Matthew 23:8, Isaiah 8:20.
Don't continue to wonder why 99% of churched "Christians," and even Christians trained on religious banality or even in strict organization-slanted discipline, find undiluted, unperverted Bible-proven Truth too strong to digest and, indeed, a howling affront. Don't feel badly when taken to task for Truth you have carefully searched out, or even when roundly criticized for your "heresies". It is not you that is actually being attacked; it is the Lord and His Word. Repeatedly, He explained this.
Today, more so than when the Pharisees and Scribes were plying their teachings among church people as "truth," opinion and perceived credibilty are replacing Truth and knowledge. This has created a culture which even liberals cannot tolerate. The consequences are apparent in churches as well as in politics, academia and news media. They all tend toward conforming to the culture instead of the reverse. Lack of the Standard is leading toward acceptance of subjective feelings as the highest good. Isaiah 8:20 (underline "and").
In 1991, Ted Koppel spoke on this accelerating trend. He correctly observed that our society finds undiluted truth too strong to digest. Pure truth is not a polite tap on the shoulder; it is a howling affront. What Moses brought to the church were not the Ten Suggestions. They were and are Commandments. Brilliantly they codified, in just a few words, acceptable behavior. Today, the danger lies in the imposition of a standard of morality on people who won't accept it.
That is why people no longer keep their back doors open in summer heat. That is why no politician, without acknowledging objective truth, can begin to fix what has gone wrong with our culture. All proposals apply to externals. None deal with the internal nature of men and women, where the real fault lies. Therefore, the avalanche of violent crime and destruction in every nation. Objective truth has been abandoned, spawning the ever-changing "truth."
If church people don't feel as close to God as in the early years, guess who moved. A growing number of people are becoming uncomfortable with themselves and the condition of our culture. They may have moved too far from objective truth.
Dally and wonder at our teachings, if you choose. Take your pleasure and revel in what you think you know, or prefer. Be drunk, but not with the wine of the Faith; stagger, but not from strong drink. For the Lord has poured out on all who choose perverted truth the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed the "eyes", the church teachers ("prophets") who speak forth . Your church heads, the theologians (seers & mental perceivers), He covers (with darkness). To ones who dally are all revelations of the Truth becoming as the words of a sealed book. Isa 29:9-11 , literal with clarifying words.
Therefore, strongly held opinion may be but an expression of ignorance on the subject, especially when there is little to no hunger for progress in understanding it and no inclination to re-think the foundation of the opinion (repentance).
