The rendering above is correct according to the eight oldest Greek manuscripts in existence. Observe the definite article **THE** preceding faith. That is, He questioned as to where He might go and search to find "THE faith" (He had delivered to His chosen).

Why was that "THE" dropped out by the translators? It calls for no Solomon to answer that! Had it been left in, it would have "let the cat out of the bag"! Every thinking person would have known that the pure Truth is no longer available (through the sources where commonly sought).

You know, here in 2001 we have one of the most powerful tools known to mankind, if we will open our eyes -- WE HAVE HINDSIGHT !!! We can, from this current vantagepoint, take Jesus' predictions of the future and NOW LOOK BACK on them. Paul said that he could see "as through a glass dimly" looking into the future. We can scan the scenery of these last 2,000 years and SHOUT; "I CAN SEE CLEARLY"

As you will see, we can pinpoint with a great deal of accuracy many of Jesus' predictions. Have you ever thought about what period of history He could have been talking about when he said, "while everyone was sleeping"? In the last 2 thousand years, when might we say that people were spiritually "asleep"?

Ever heard of the Dark Ages...? When one small band of privileged individuals ruled over God's word with absolute authority, and TOLD THE PEOPLE what it meant.. It was forbidden of the people to own or possess the scriptures (while they were being "operated on").

"The time will come (it took about 500 years!) when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." (2 Tim. 4:3,4)

Simply teach the unthinking, uneducated masses to memorize certain words and dogmas so that ignorance reigns; then repetition and tradition "cements" the new understanding into creed...

In the parable about the wheat and the tares sown at midnight, the truth as delivered by Jesus was pictured as the good wheat. On the other hand, UNtruth, HALF truths, and outright LIES are pictured as "the tares" or weeds. There are now over 20,000 different Christian denominations, ism's, sects, etc., and these do not even come close to agreeing, even on basics and fundamentals. This is the proof that it is the "tare seed" that is today taught throughout Christendom.

Then my question to you: if our enemy was given the ability to plant the tare seeds beside and around the true wheat, do you think that there were wheat plants (truths) that he left alone? Are there some truths that the enemy DID NOT try to tweak, pervert and twist to conform to the meanings HE assigned to them?

The answer is NO! No he did not leave any alone... YES, he did try to pervert EVERY SINGLE TRUTH that Jesus left for us. The "Reformation" as sorely needed as it was, only went a very small portion of the way in REFORMING THE TRUTH back to Jesus' likeness. There were many "whoppers" that weren't even touched by the reformers - they were too busy trying to keep their heads attached to their bodies for daring to suggest that the earth was round. Do you know THAT debate raged, and Galileo feared for his life only 400 years ago!? Or to allow the scriptures in the hands of common folks?

Look again at the words of the Nazarene who claimed to bring the words of Life:

"`These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! Mark 6-9
I wonder if we are justified to link the above "observe your own traditions" with "an enemy came ... and sowed weeds among the wheat"?

Let me ask you.. Do you think that when Jesus returns that He will "believe" the same things that Orthodox, Traditional Christianity teaches? Will He "believe" the same as your church? Will He "believe" the same as YOU?

At some point we must stop to ask, what does JESUS "believe"? Or better yet, "What did Jesus TEACH - of which we should be able to study in preparation for the 'final exam'... BUT:

"`How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have? Jer 8:8 -9

Was this only meant for the people back in Jeremiah's day? Do you think this has any application for today?

Don't be like the religious folks who run to check an uncomfortable teaching with the minister, not with the Lord. Typically, the minister either rejects it out-of-hand or runs to his favorite Bible Commentary not the Lord's full Word on the matter. Then man's doctrine is again reported back as the Word of God! Ref: Mark 7:6-9 .
