What DOES It Take To Be "Saved"?

Our Lord has made it so plain that even a fool cannot err therein! And so easy that the greatest weakling may achieve it! Yet so precise and exacting that no foreigner shall ever enter. "You must be generated anew"! For, "without holiness no one shall see God." 'Kingdom' participation comes through birth, not deeds! It is not a good life lived, which entitles to Heaven, but linage: you must be born into the Kingdom. The "good life" livers are "the whole" said He, which need no physician. They are like the 99 sheep which went not astray, "they were left in the wilderness." Their lot remains here on earth, and, in eons impending, shall have their certain chance of entering into eonian life. They are even typified by the elder son which remained at home in obedience to the Father while the youngster was away in dissipation, yet was to wilfully stubborn to enter into participation with his Father in rejoicing over the lost one which had been found. (Observe: the youngster had gained that which his older brother had not: contriteness and realization of unworthiness ("I am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants"). This is far preferable in God's sight to conceit and haughtiness borne of faultless conduct, and which looks not with favor upon those ransomed from the swine-herds. Let us not forget that: strength borne of experience in sin (after coming to repentance), is far greater than the mettle unto righteousness possessed by those who have been upright and too dutiful to be ensnared by sin. And that - if you will receive it - is the largest portion of the answer to the riddle of why God permitted 'sin' to enter the world. God was not helpless, but for a great purpose permitted Lucifer his fleeting reign!


But how can I be "saved"?

First, because of the facts shown you about the transplanted Life-seed from Jesus' body, it is an utter impossibility to be 'saved' without a recognition of His Deity, and/or, faith in Him as your 'Savior'. Such recognition of His identity and mission on earth, places you into the 30-fold category. You believe in the Christian code of ethics and, for one reason or another you live a respectable life - more or less. It may be the fear of hell-fire which keeps you within limits, or a desire to be 'respectable' among your friends, or perhaps some other reason or influence which enables you to live a fairly worthy life. And this life you live enables you to maintain a measure of faith in Christ - your Savior. (This is the category in which the bulk of Christendom is found today.) If so, to you applies His promise:

"He that comes towards Me I will under no circumstances cast out" - Jhn. 6:37.

This "coming towards Him" implies a constant, continuous process. It becomes the equivalent of the order for Israel in Egypt: "Go not out at the door of your house until the morning." You must remain under the blood-seal, otherwise you fall prey to the "destroying angel", and you will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. From this shelter you may withdraw at any time. And, if time lies before you, you may even come to repentance and reenter the shelter later. Therein you are neither 'lost' nor 'saved', but under promise of conditional 'preservation'. And that condition is: Remaining under the blood-seal: i.e. "coming towards me." And, if you possess a measure of real sincerity, then your chances of promotion into the 60-fold are more than excellent.

To enter this called out and chosen flock is indeed a privilege. Perhaps the Password at its portal could be said to be: desire for Jesus. We must not forget that this category implies birth into the household of God. The person must not merely be willing, but must yearn for 'adoption' by Jesus Christ. He has constituted us free moral agents. This individual right He will under no circumstances abrogate. Thereby is He prevented from 'saving' people against their own will. If "in the world" and "of the world" and for the devil a person prefers to be, that must continue to be his inalienable right. Therefore did I say that a vehement desire to be jesus' is, perhaps, that surest Password at the Veil to the Holy Place where abode a Levitical Priesthood. The name means adhesion. That is: such adhere or cling to God: they want to be His. This rings the bell for the Holy Spirit, who, seizing a flaming seed from Jesus' body, speaks it into one's soul-structure. That is the "Gift of God": You have then been "born into His Kingdom": You are child of the King and shall forever that remain. In that sense you are 'saved', but more correctly 'preserved.' To you, then, applies His statement: "He who hears my word, and believes Him who sent me has eonian life, and s hall not come into judgment but is passed from out of the death into the life.' - Jhn. 5:24.

That is, your soul-body has received an engrafted, deathless lifeseed, which shall withstand the ravages of sin and the onslaught of time through ages unending. Neither shall you ever come into condemnation before God. you are his son or daughter: your Father deals with you from time to time. And that God-ward aspiring, holy vortex within your soul, will reorganize and remould your soul-structure to conform more and more to the pleasure of His Will, even to the extent that living His will becomes like "a fire in your bones."

How can I know that I am in the 60-fold?

With some the transition is so sudden that they become aware of the day as well as the very hour. Yet others not consciously so. Such can settle the question for themselves by asking another question: Is there a real and continuous desire within my heart to do that which is good and right and pleasing to my Lord? If 'Yes', then has your soul-structure been "generated anew" through His Life-seed at its core. His 'Law' has been "engraved upon the tablets of your heart." That does not mean that you never can enter into error through weakness of the flesh or uprisings of the carnal mind, yet the persistent desire to do right and to live a good life is a constant within you. Naturally, the longer you remain in the 60-fold group, the stronger and more effective His law within your heart. Even as a child comes to the gradual awareness of life, so with the "generated anew" Christian: the awareness thereof is a gradual one. Aside from that WITNESS within your own heart, there is no sign' given. But you have passed out of death into His life.

The 100-fold:

Percentage wise, they are few and far apart to day. Thus applies and becomes true His statement: "Many are called but few are chosen."

It is not a minor matter to become selected to walk in His presence! Such be the Aaronites: that is, "enlightened ones." The 'enlightenment' comes through the Fiery Baptism when the Divine Oil is set on fire. Such have been "sanctified by His presence" and all dross burned up by the fire of His Spirit. For a while they are on the very mountain top with God, when the 'world' ceases to be. They are then 'chosen' - to live in His presence. They are the few but fully sanctified ones in our midst; the lures of the world have no effect on them, for, they walk with their God, and talk to their Savior - constantly.

Nineteen centuries ago they were given a 'sign', and they spoke in other languages. Yet there is plenty of Bible evidence that that 'sign' did not continue as a constant.

Today the hundred-fold is a very small flock. Yet the days are approaching that there shall dawn another 'Pentecost' ­p; this time unto entire Christendom. With the unspeakable horror which shall then prevail in the outsIde world, there will develop such a panting for God, that the Spirit Baptism will be received by multitudes, and the Lord's harvest become graciously abundant. (And may that lot of the 'chosen' be yours to know.)

PROCEDURES

Perhaps a few words should here be given to Salvation's procedure. With the ignorance and confusion prevailing, many believe that a church, a priest, a sacrament, or something special must be first resorted to. "Search the Scripture" said Christ our Lord. And if, beloved, you will do that very thing, I can assure you that you will not find the faintest allusion to such tactics in spiritual midwifery! Would you expect a doctor to tell you that it is needless to consult his profession? Or that a lawyer should tell you that you can get by just as well without his services? Well hardly! So neither should you expect a carnal priesthood to tell you otherwise. (Be reasonable!)

Yet 'Salvation' for man is so tremendously important that God arranged for its expediting without the muddling of man required! And He arranged it so simply that the greatest fool cannot err at the Gate unto Life. It is the finding of the Gate which is so difficult! People are too 'intelligent' these days to believe in a "vicarious atonement." And people are so 'good' that they are well convinced God can have nothing in store but lollipops and pink ice cream for spiritual brats.

Nevertheless the stark fact remains that man's body and soul have been smitten by the core-rot of 'sin', and therefore can not survive - unless both healing and the Elixir of Life are received. And that 'elixir' is possessed by none but God. And for its administration He requires special conditions: (1) Repentance of error and of your carnal estate; and (2) that recognition of His identity which leads to your willingness to become adopted into the household of God. For, He will not swerve you from your course of life unless you want Him to. There is no coercion in His Kingdom. Hi s are that because they have gladly chosen it thus.

Wherefore, if you are 'sick' (of sin and the carnal estate of your heart), the "Great Physician" stands knocking at your door. If you have decided to henceforth be a child of the King, you need but say: "come in!" And He answers the one leprous with sin: "What would you that I shall do for you?" To which you reply: "Lord, that I might be made whole!" Whereupon He lays His hands upon you and replies: "I will, be thou whole." And from that moment you are fully cleansed! It is as simple as that!

True, "the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." If you know such a person of whose Godliness you are convinced, you may call on him to advantage (If there are doubts within you). He will be able to quote you Scripture which will help to settle your floundering heart. And in his prayer (for you), faith will take root and your spirit will find rest in the sweet bosom of Yahweh Jesus.

To be present in a church has no spiritual value, but may have a psychological effect on your mind. A priest's function (at the best) is only to inform and enlighten you. 'Confessions' are made to God, and privately. 'Sacraments' are for 'believers.' It should not be supposed that God requires the administration of any special 'sacrament' by an especially appointed priesthood in order to become a partaker of His Grace unto Life and into Glory. There is no hint of such by the Lord Jesus, neither by His apostles. Yet such sacraments can and should be taken by believers as 'a help', and unto a greater blessing in the living of the Christian life. Water immersion is the only rite encouraged as an entry into eonian life. But observe: this is enjoined unto a testimony for the sake of others, and also for its psychological effect on oneself. It is a sacred and valuable rite which no Christian believer should neglect, but mistake it not to be that which produces your 'salvation.' It is but the symbol of that which has already been accomplished. And, since it is the symbol of having been washed from your sins, and rising again into newness of life, then see to that the rite in symbolism is correct. As a few drops thrown at you can never wash you, so similarly are such tactics the untrue symbols invented by man (that the haughty and dignified should not be offended). . . . Neither is the rite of infant baptism worth the water used for it! The Scripture speaks of the 'believer' who is baptized, the same shall be saved. (Here the baptismal rite entered into bespeaks sufficient faith to give it action. Hence the assurance added.)

Wherefore if you stand at the Eastern Gate to offer unto God - that you may be accepted into His fold, remember, your one and only High Priest is already entered into the Holy of Holies with the required blood, there making intercession for you. Offer, then, your 'self-will' unto Him, that His Spirit may henceforth live in you, and that your joy-cup may be filled to overflowing.

It is as simple as that!

Wherefore, rejoice greatly that 'salvation' was made so simple that a childish mind can understand it, and also so easily available -through Himself - that the poorest and weakest can achieve it! And that without any priest, sacrament or hocus pocus.

Rejoice, beloved; Rejoice, and cease not to rejoice!
