Immortality Prophesied From The Beginning
This whole matter goes back to the foundation of the Bible - Genesis 1:26 - Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." I would like to draw your attention to the fact that never in man's wildest dreams does he envision having CONTROL over the fish or the birds, and only to a small degree the "creatures that move along the ground". Are you prepared for the shock of the day? Make sure you're sitting down...
The "birds" represent the thoughts and will of a person. "Dominion" or control over ones thoughts is the command given. This is spirit, or attitude. It's consistency is air, or more accurately, fire.
"Fish" in the Bible represents the spectrum of emotions, feelings, desire. It's consistency is that of water - it links to the soul.
"Creatures" and "Livestock" obviously would link to our physical bodies - our animal. It's consistency is that of the ground or the earth. It links to the human body.
I am now of the understanding that the injunction; "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over... " was an invitation, and directive to follow in THEIR footsteps. As it turns out, one of the "us" plummeted from the heavenlies to FULFILL that exact command.
Obviously, by the definitions above, we could say that Jesus took dominion over his birds, fish and beasts, eh?
"Well if Jesus said that we didn't have to die, then why does everyone die?", you may ask.
